More jobs and books and STILL can’t count on the bus...

Ok I was late for another job interview today, seems I can never count on the fucking bus. I actually did manage to have the interview 30 minutes latter than intended, and it actually went really well. The woman (I’m tempted to say “girl”, she’s a recent graduate and only a year older than me, and kinda cute to boot) doing the hiring seemed really interested; guess being bilingual is a big plus in this world as we’ve all heard. But then the proverbial brick wall that always seems to pop up popped up; the Work Study grant says that I need to have earned money by tomorrow, not just be hired. She said she would contact me about it within the next 24 hours. She seemed really annoyed, not at me, but at the whole Work Study funding system (basically this little deadline not only put me out of the running, but all of the people that have applied for the job). I guess the Federal Government is intent on never giving me money, even if I want to actually work for it. She did say that she might be able to hire me for less money, and even asked if I would be willing to do it as a volunteer only. The place seemed really cool, so I would actually consider her last offer.

I also read the first 35 pages or so of Fight Club today, really good stuff. Really easy to get into, and really hold the readers interest. I however prefer the way that the narrator and Tyler met in the film as opposed to the novel...

Jobs, Books, etcetera…

Remember that Brew City job interview? The job I really, really, want to get? I overestimated the efficiency of the Milwaukee County Transit System so I missed the job interview. Apparently it takes more than half an hour to get to downtown Milwaukee from UWM, even when you’re only traveling 4 miles… But hey it wasn’t all bad; I called from the bus and re-scheduled the interview for next Wednesday at 3pm, and when I went to pick up a shirt I had ordered over there (which I need to go back and exchange, I guess I’m large on t-shirts but XL on button down shirts) the guy that sold it to me was actually one of the head managers at the office, and he told me it was all cool. Hell he even said “So you’re the Abraham that’s gonna work for me?” Heh. One thing that still bothers me (being raised catholic left me predisposed to torturing myself over every little mundane thing) is that I know I would’ve probably been hired on the spot, hence I would’ve worked Summerfest, hence I would’ve gotten in for free. Oh well. Anyway, I’m not putting all my eggs in one basket, so I got another interview tomorrow in the downtown area at 2:30pm. I guess I’ll have to skip lunch tomorrow to get there on time…

In other news I have recently gotten into the habit of reading the books on which my favorite movies are based. I finished Trainspotting today and I’m going to start reading Fight Club either tonight or tomorrow. After that I want to get Porno, Irvine Welsh’s sequel to Trainspotting. I just need to know what Begbie is going to want to do to Renton after what he did to him...

Scratch one of the list…

Well had the first job interview about an hour ago. Went great and I'm sure I have a great chance for the job. Just one small problem...while the job starts in August it's the last week of August, i.e. the start of the fall semester. And since I only have work-study for summer and not fall, that leaves me of the running for that gig. And that means, unless the Task Force people hire me tomorrow, I can kiss a grand and a half of federal funds goodbye. Oh well. Again, I reaaaallly, I mean reaaaallly, hope I get that Brew City job...

It's been fun...

...but they are about to kick me out of the Union so I better get going. Got two job interviews tomorrow too (really hope I get the Brew City one), so anybody out there that read this and cares wish me luck. Au revoir.

meine Abbildung...

...merely posting this to get it online...

nice architecture...

This is a picture from my recent trip to Europe, this is Lyon France to be exact. Some nice work here (visually at least) from Jean Nouvel. Expect some more latter....maybe...

once more

Ok I think I finally figured it out, it only updates if you post something. Which I guess does make perfect sence, though it strill dosen't explain the spell checker. I'm finally begining mto understand why this BS is so adictive though...

hmmmm.....

I'm playing around with the settings and for some stupid reason it's not really changing anything...maybe it's that I'm using Firefox, or maybe it just takes a few minutes (witch is completely retarded either way). Maybe their servers are acting up today....fucking spell check is down too...

Anyway 3 job interviews this week, with 2 tomorrow. I really hope I get the
Brew City job...

Hi

This is a little experiment to if I get into this whole blogging thing. While there's no way I'm ever going to write something here that is completely private (this is the internet after all); I do somewhat enjoy writing and this seems like a pretty cool way to get better at it. Watch this space for updates…if they ever appear that is.
